The Heroine's Journey:
The Woman's Mythic Quest
This is a small, intimate group for women in the midst of their mid-life journeys. It is based on the work of Maureen Murdock, author of "The Heroine's Journey" and is for women that want to work towards discovering, accepting and loving themselves completely - integrating all parts of their natures. There is joy and fulfillment in this journey, but a price must be paid. In the Greek myth of Psyche, we learn that she gave birth to a daughter whose name meant "bliss," only after her descent into and out of the underworld. Honest exploration and opening to our own "descent" is crucial to finding wholeness in our lives.
Often this "heroine's journey" involves sorting and sifting through our life experiences, disappointments and choices thus far. It also involves letting go of and grieving the losses, feminine wounding and traumas we have had.
It requires being honest and looking at painful realities.
And it requires daring to dream that we can have the life we imagine.
As we work together in the group, through reading assignments, personal writing exercises, exploration of myth, art, guided imagery, and dreamwork, you will come to see yourself as valuable and worthy of love and connection. Through risking vulnerability with others and owning your life story, you will come to see that the story of your life is unfinished, the plot is still being shaped and the outcome is open to be crafted by your hand.
